hello, i have had my 3 hens for around 2 months and today i have noticed Theo seems... odd.
she is always first to come running, explore and get into anything.
today, first thing she seemed fine but then she sat on the decking for ages and laid a pale coloured egg (compared to normal) and was acting really slow, sitting down and closing her eyes And not being very responsive.
we brought her inside and she sat for ages with eyes closed and tail down. now she is standing up, tail still down, sometimes with mouth open with tongue waggling.
she does notseem to want her water or food.
she just did a poo that seems normal although there are a couple outside with orange runny bits in them which could have come from any of my 3 ladies.

not sure what to do for her!

Theo has just laid a second egg (hour and half after thefirst today) no warning, just dropped it while standing (she actually cocked her leg!) she is walking about now and even eaten, but ir sat down again now eyes closed, i am guessing she is tired after that.
am i being over worried?
i didnt know hens could lay that quickly again??

Hi there, she may have been feeling a bit off if she had an egg stuck for a while which is maybe why she laid 2 so close together. Just keep an eye on her from now, I have a little girl who gets eggs stuck all the time n lays a couple together most weeks. It may only be a major problem as she gets older and the shell quality drops which may cause softer eggs which are more of a bother when they get stuck, you may need to remove these manually if they burst, but of she is a young healthy hen I'd leave her be as long as she has brightened up and is eating :)
