I want to make my own chicken feed. I have watched several YouTube videos that recommend soybean meal as an ingredient.
BUT I have read several articles that say soybean meal is unhealthy for chickens.
I would really appreciate suggestions from those of you who make your own chicken feed.
Thanks in advance

Soybean meal is one of the best inexpensive sources of Methionine - a criitical, perhaps the most critical, limiting amino acid in poultry feed, Its also a source of low fat concentrated protein.

Suggest you find other youtube channels.

I don't make my own chicken feed.
But I have raised quite a few chickens that ate purchased chicken feed.
That purchased chicken feed included soybean meal.
The chickens did fine.

Almost all commercial chicken feeds contain soybean meal. Large numbers of chickens live and are healthy on feeds that contain soybean meal, including the chickens belonging to most members of this forum. There are a few members who buy no-soy commercial feed, and there may be some who do not use commercial feed, but the vast majority who mention feed are using one or another of the commercial feeds that contain soy. And their chickens are usually healthy.
