Is the Black chick male or female?

Do you know what breed it is? It is very hard to say for sure at this stage but I'm kinda leaning towards cockerel, if you post again in a week or two we could confirm it gender.
 
Not sure what breed, Ah man you think Cockerel? My wife is going to kill me and so are my neighbors...

It is still young to tell. Young roos have larger combs and wattles at this age. If he is not growing any saddles, hackles, or sickles (Obviously he's too young for most of that) then its a hen. Check the little guys back. Young roos tend to grow their saddles in first. so if you see any "very lustrous" pointed feathers, young cockerel. This looks to be a little pullet though, judging from this picture. If you post more I can help. But with only this pic, it looks like a pullet.

Thank CochinLover1 I'll wait a couple weeks and post an updated pic, i really hope it's a pullet...

At what age do young cockerel start going the saddle feathers? Ill be on the lookout for that.... thanks for the info
