Is there a breed that roams less than others?

Thank you for your reply to my interjected question! everyone on this board is so nice and helpful. I haven't quite gotten the hang of it yet but have already learned a lot about my little flock. thanks again

Mine stay really close to the coop if I wait until late in the day to let them out. If they go out first thing in the morning, they hit the ground running. lol

Last year my kids got 2 Cornish X {1 hen 1 roo} They did not want to go far from the feed trays. They where happy just sitting all day in front of the feeders. They where fat and happy and I disliked them. I would rather see them running after bugs. But you might like them because they don't roam. They where cobb chicks from a meat farm. In a sea of yellow chicks the dark ones are usally not wanted. And most of the time can be bought very cheap or given to you.

I would imagine that breeds that have charachteristics furthest from natural would roam the least.
Those would be feather legs, cresteds, short leg Japanese, Frizzels, silkies, etc.

Of all the breeds of chickens I have ever raised The Rhode Island Reds (either bantam or LF) seemed to range the widest and on top of that they always seemed to be the last back in at night. Often times it was nearly dark when they decided to come in.

I have 5 red sexlinks and a 10 mo. old turken Roo and they only range about 30 yds from the coop and then go back in it's kinda funny to watch

We live on 11 acres of land and mine only go as far as the boundaries of the yard in front and in back of the house (about 1/2 of an acre). the only fencing we have on our land is some old barb wire fencing in the front yard of the house. There is a highway in front of us but they never get close to the fence or highway for us to worry about them. They don't go far from home so it shouldn't be to big of a deal to let them roam
What breed?
