Is there a profit potential in small chicken farms, aside from just selling eggs?
Do chicks and do hatching eggs bring in good money?
Which make more money brown or white eggs?
What about exotic breeds do they make more money?
And award winning chickens, if your rooster has won many awards can you charge more for the eggs he fertilizes?
What about chickens for meat?

This isn't a huge mega farm, only six acres and the chickens would be free range.

As you can see I have a lot of questions and didn't know where to ask on the site.

Personally, I love rare and exotic chickens, but around here no one wants "dem fancy chickens." I decided to start a flock designed to produce sex-link chicks so I can give people a good layer and I'm not stuck raising out a bunch of roosters. Other than that, I have a few customers who want eating eggs, sometimes I sell hatching eggs and I raise rabbits. I don't make much profit, but it helps with the feed bill.

We were looking at a small chicken farm in GA. But I learned today it was already in contract. So guess I'm back to square one. Thanks for the info everyone.
