is there a hatchery that will ship small quantities?

I got 4 chicks this morning from Meyer Hatchery - great and quick service. My four little guys were well packed for the trip through the postal service. And all four are healthy and active.

I just recently went to mypetchicken.com because i was looking for buff laced polish and they actually had some! Everyone else is sold out. I only wanted 5 so I put that in my "cart" then when I went to check out it said "calculate shipping" and it came to $35 for shipping! It was already $22 for the chicks. That came to $55 for 5 chicks!

Ideal poultry has a $25 minimum so it usually comes to around 7-10 chicks depending on the breed you get and prices but their small order fee and small box charge (their way of getting shipping money without calling it shipping) is way cheaper.

In the long run they probably equal out as far as adding the price and shipping together it's just that with Ideal you're actually getting more chicks for the money and the money you spend on mypetchicken is all shipping costs. Not worth it to me. I'd rather go with Ideal and get more chicks and then sell the extras I don't want than just throw the money away on the shipping at mypetchicken
