Is there a pecking order here that I don't yet know about?

There are a couple of other forums besides this one that I like to keep up with and it's amazing how the 'tone' will differ from forum to forum. I won't mention the specific topics but there are definitely forums where the experienced folks are much more impatient or longsuffering. I just read those. I think the breed forums and social forums are generally the friendliest, but those are more chatty and not really advice asking forums. The other forum full of empathetic posters is the Emergencies and Diseases forum. I like that one but it freaks me out to read it. Scary! Posters forget that sometimes written words will convey a different tone than intended. They would never intend to be rude but it just comes across that way.

Welcome to BYC. Both new members here have only a few posts. Sometimes, it takes awhile to get into the groove and let people learn about you, who you are, what you do, what your experience is. With around 70K members, it takes a bit to get the hang of BYC and learn who all the players are.

barefoottrims, I couldn't understand exactly what the bone of contention was in that story or why it would cause such a ruckus, but there are many levels of experience here and often, someone with little experience will answer a question and not get it quite right. Just let things roll off your back and I'm sure your experience here will be a fun one when we get to know you.
