He a good Roo have 3 hens his age 1 year or so. Plus 7 gals as 2 1/2 months old waiting to grow up to be intergrted...Just little too rough in the mating dept....
But" Big Sis" has lost tips of her wing tops with pink and reddish scratched wing tops.. and now Lil Sis is getting thinned wing feathers....but since they free range in over 100 by 100 feet fenced in field the rest of property right before bedtime. I put Neosporin on her wing tips at nite...I feel so far her and fuss at Roo Roo to be more gentle
Is there something to discourage so much Sex from Rooo Roo. Wish he was more gentle with them.when it comes to sex.... he hold onto their crown and prob sctratches them with his claws... He was chosen by me to keep of the 3 roos in a straight run to be with my one pullet Baby Girl. got the othr two hens as almost laying few months later....
I kept him so he could be THEIR protector and he has been . He even allows them to steal stuff esp treats right out of his mouth....He watches the sky and lets out grunts etc when a hawk or something flies over....in thir large fenced in field..
I bought a real HENSAVER.(called and special ordered.with wing protectors recently
but cant find it...... Never been used.... I guessing I was hesitating because not sure about using it Guess I will have to make one or so instead
