How long does the chicken lay fertalized eggs after the rooster has his way with her?
Is there a way that we can tell if an egg is fertalised or not?

Hens can lay viable eggs for about 2-3 weeks after a mating, but fertility drops after a few days. The only way to tell is by incubating it and candling after a few days. I've heard that you can tell by breaking the egg open and looking at the germinal disc. If its a perfect circle it should be fertile, if its rough around the edges its probably not. I've also heard this doesn't work, maybe someone else knows.

After a hen has mated with the rooster, she should produce fertile eggs as early as 48 hours. You can tell if the eggs are fertile by opening one or two and checking for the the little white circle that all eggs have around the middle of the yolk. A fertile egg will appear to have a bullseye instead of a plain white spot. See photos here from a previous post by Speckledhen. https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=16008
