We recently got bantam chicks, we think they are 1-2 weeks old.

If we have any roosters we would like to return them and switch them for hens. Is there a way to tell their gender at this age? Would there be spur development at this age? Two of them look to have spurs growing, but we aren't too sure.

Thank you! I know they are way too cute, but I'm concerned the little white one is going to die...

I saw a video on utube where one of the hatcheries sexed them by looking at their wing feathers, another showed how to sex them by looking at the ??? well I can't think of the word for it but where the egg comes out. I don't know if the feather thing is breed specific or not. I've never tried either but you might give it a try.

Thank you! I have heard that hens tails are fanned, and rooster are spade shaped. I cant really tell right now because their tails are still tiny. I have heard of the of hole where the egg comes out too, but they were too squirmy to see. I will have to look for the video on the wings, because out of the four, two of them have different wing coloring compared to the other two. Even though they can be different colors, two are speckled and the other two are solid. The two that are speckled, seem to have spurs..
I don't know, I guess I will find out when they start crowing..
