Is there ANY way to stop picking?

Both my daughters have long hair.Each year at school a case of headlice breaks out.I used to use a hair detangler on them that contained tea tree oil. I heard headlice will stay away from hair with tea tree oil,but later read that it shouldn't be used on children because it has been found to be a carcinagenic. I stopped using it.
There are so many other products out there to stop picking,I would not use tea tree oil,but to each is own.JMHO Will

I know I hate the picking problem, it seems to come and go and can be very frustrating. When I had chickens years ago i don't remember these types of problems, it is very discouraging.
