Is there anything I can do to stop my hens from egg-eating?

My 2 hens have started eating their eggs, and I don't know what to do about it. They don't cackle when they lay, so I can't run out there to grab the eggs, and I don't find the eggs until after they eat them- I suspect they are eating them as soon as they lay them.

Is there anything I can do to stop it, or do I just need to get rid of them?

Pronto, put two or three golf balls (color isn't important...we even have orange and blue) in each nest box.

This way, it won't give when they peck. They'll learn not to do it anymore.

Good idea- I'll do that now, and look for directions to making a roll away box.

The old guy down the street from me had this problem.
He blew a egg, mixed the yolk and white up with lots of tabasco sauce and injected it back in the eggs, put them back in the nest.
After a couple of days and three blown eggs were broken open, his chickens never ate another egg.
