My girls are about four months old and I know it's a little early to be asking this, but is there anything I need for winter? Because this'll be mine and their first winter and I just want to be prepared.

What I'm doing as we get sub-zero temps in winter is putting a submersible stock tank heater in my bucket...but you have to make sure it's no bigger than 500 watts.I've set up an automatic system using pipes, so I figured I would put some heaters attached to sections of the pipes.
HINT:: To protect your flock's combs when the winter temps get that low smear a little Vaseline on them...easy-peasy!I made a flower pot heater with a 100W light bulb, and I bought a heated water bowl. I did not want to be knocking ice out of water bowls all winter. Even with the extra heat, my RIR had a bit of frost bite on her comb.
