To a certain extent all goats are dual purpose. We raise Nubians which are lovely animals. For the first couple years we are breeding to a Nubian buck to expand our flock. After we get 5 - 6 milkers going, we will swap out the buck for a Boer. A Boer X Nubian goat is the ultimate cross breed combination for frame size plus meat yield.
I don't mind eating goat and quite like it; but we raise lamb too which is just too awesome to pass up on for goat. But, I have enough people drive into my driveway looking for goat meat that I think my Boer X Nubians will be very popular and I'll have no trouble selling them.
