I am just "thinking" of getting a little baby goose...it's purely a pipe dream at the moment but you've got to start asking questions at some point.

One thing I know about geese is they are loud...and people living around me would not be happy...not bothered about annoying the people with the constant yapping dog at 6am and for the rest of the day, but everyone else I do care about.

Is there such thing as a quiet female goose?

Really geese aren't as noisy as some people think. They really only get loud if they see something or someone they don't like or know or when they are "talking" to the rest of the flock. Most of the time you wouldn't know I have 10 geese in my backyard. At night they are very quiet. If you stick with one or two you shouldn't have too many problems with noise level unless your neighbors live extremely close.

They are quiet unless a car drives by, someone walks by, they feel like being loud, a duck walked by, etc. Our only quiet goose is an American gray. She is almost never loud.

i know americans (buffs, blus, greys lavenders ect) pilgrims, and romans are supposedly on the quieter end of the goose scale.
ebdens supposedly the most talkative and africans the loudest (for obvious reasons they are huge! lol)

if you want a "quiet" goose i think youll have trouble...
if you want a quiet-ER goose, id look into those 3 breeds.

I am incubating3 goose eggs now, and they are Jumbo dewlap toulouse eggs.
I did a research before I start to incubating, and heard jumbo dewlap toulouse are very quiet and tame.
They are HUGE breed, can weigh around 30 LBS at mature, but not as vocal as other geese.
