Is there such thing as duckens?

My Silver Laced Wyandotte rooster is showing a lot of interest in my mallard duck. Is it possible for chickens and ducks to mate. The mallard is bigger than the rooster. I walked outside a few days ago then there was the Mallard flopping around in the yard with a rooster hanging on to the feathers of my mallards back for dear life. Oh and one last thing I don't know if my mallard is a boy or girl. Thanks in advance!

Without seeing them in action I would say they are trying to mate and no offspring .
