Cuckoo Maran cockerels. I agree, the bird pictured looks to be younger than 5-6 months old.

That does sound like Cuckoo Marans. Are they laying?
Thanks for your reply, no they are not laying yet. look like typical teenage birds, all legs body yet to fill out. no tail feathers yet too which is also strange. I was told they were 5 months when I got them and ive had them about a month. This is my first with this breed, and everyday they look different, one day I swear they must be roos, the next day,,, I guess its a wait it out situation and egg color I suppose will eventually tell me if rock or marans.

It may have to wait till I can get someone to help, they are not likely to hold still long enough for me to take a pic with one hand while I try to hold them with the other.Get some good, closeup photos of the saddle area. If they're at least 10-12 weeks the sex-specific feathers should be showing -- at least underneath.
