I have a broody hen and wanted to get her some eggs, but I was told that this may be a bad time because the percentage of fertilized eggs would be low this early in the year. Can anyone comment on this? Is it fair to ask the person I buy the eggs from how active their roosters have been? Thank you for any and all help. This is a wonderful site!

From what I experience roosters take care of business all year round. I grabbed a few random eggs from my flock to incubate last week, including my salmon faverolles Very First Egg....and all of them are developing. :)
