I got this chick with my black dorkings from Sandhill. Does anyone know what color this is? Is it birchen? I really want it to be a hen, I hope to keep it.

It's pretty young yet, It's about 7 wks old.

The color is silver pencilled/partridge, so, does it have 5 toes? I'm thinking it isn't even a Dorking.

I didnt know there were black Dorkings, but maybe it could be a Black X Silver Grey ? I do see that big fifth toe that dorkings have, so its got to have some Dorking in it.

It is a dorking. On the Sandhill site it says: Black Dorking: A rare color that, in an effort to save it from drastic inbreeding, I crossed with other colors of Dorkings. We are getting both comb types (rose and single) and, while a predominent number are pure black, some off colors (principally dark gray and birchen) are showing up. So maybe it's just a product of crossing black with another color and won't fall into any category at all. Either way, I thinks it's a pretty bird.

The dorkings are so awesome and I don't know what to say about the inbreeding issue. At least dorking to dorking is a better option than dorking to another breed.
