They had silkies, buff brahmas, and this little chick in the assorted bantams bin. She looks like a penguin and although I went for two brahmas, I got her and a brahma instead.

I've been looking all day to figure it out and I'm not sure. I was thinking a black cochin. Am I right?

You can't tell from the pics but she DOES HAVE feathered legs.

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Yes, she does indeed have feathered feet. Sorry you can't tell from the pic. She was feisty.

EDITED TO ADD:

Her feathers that are just barely coming in are black and white. (if that helps)

That's a good guess. She came from Ideal to my local feed store. Ideal is SOLD OUT til may on the barred ones that's why I didn't consider it but she was the ONLY ONE in the bin so she could have been an extra to fill the order. I'll be intrigued to see if anyone else agrees.

My Sweet Harry is a Barred Cochin....he looked just like the Barred Rocks except he had feathers on his feet. So mostly black with the white spot on his head. We did not even notice his feet....out of 29 chickens until we got him home and in the brooder.

So....cochin yes....don't think barred.

I'm adding this picture of her new feathers to see if it can clue anyone in on what she is.

Not a breed guess, just a comment: she looks like a really cute little owl.
