I know I know another possible TSC surprise. I’m not new to chicks but I am new to BSL. This was purchased as a BSL Pullet on March 5 (so almost 5 weeks old now). Im including pics when I first brought it home as well as now. Is this normal coloring for a BSL?

(Other chicks are Leghorn Pullet and possible California Tan or Smokey Pearl, both straight run-but 1 suspected cockerel since day 1.)

I don't think so cus he's looking male but male black sex links are barred
I was getting male vibes too (from legs, lack of tail feathers) which is why I wondered if the breed was wrong. Since it was purchased as a pullet my daughter will be devastated (as it’s her favorite).

We already have 1 roo (amost 2 year old silkie). Our other roo passed away a few months ago. I’m also pretty sure one of the others is male and I told them not to get attached.

At this age, lack of tail feathers does not tell anything useful about the sex of the chick.

I agree the color is wrong for a male Black Sexlink.

The chick colors looks okay for a female Black Sexlink, but the color of the feathers does not look the way female Black Sexlinks usually look.

For whether the chick is male or female, I'm not sure at this point. I suspect it will be much more obvious in a few weeks.

That is a hard situation :(
