It doesnt have the muffs and she is one of the laziest chicks I have ever had. She sleeps with one eye open all the time it seems lOL!

Well, whom did you get the chick or hatching egg from?

Sometimes ameraucanas go through an ugly stage and look as if they are clean faced, but they aren't.

Actually it was the only egg out of a dozen that hatched from Paul & Angela Smith in Texas. She wasnt even born with muffs I thought they all had muffs? COuold she be a bantam? The egg she hatched from were only half the size of the eggs I got from you.

Paul only has large fowl, so it is a standard size chick.

Every once in a while a clean faced chick will pop out. I had some troubles at first with a particular breeders lines, but I only have two of those birds left and haven't seen it since.

Give her some time and see how she develops. I am pretty positive if she came from Paul she is bred correctly, you just happened to get a throw back on the clean face thing.

ETA: Maybe she is a splash wheaten, I have never seen a pullet/hen of that color........

looks more like an EE than ameraucana. does she have like a grey line going down her head?/back of head and so on?
