I don't know if my baby silkie chick (6 days old today) has gapeworm or a cold/respiratory infection?
He/she is shaking its head and yawning or gaping a lot I just noticed. I also might've heard sneezing or coughing? And he/she does seem a little weaker now that I notice... Is that a respiratory infection or gapeworm? I've read it could be either. I thought I'd ask the experts.

If it is either of those how do I treat it? Is this deadly, does it kill fast? Is it contagious to my other birds? Should I seperate this chick from the others?
I am completely new to this so.....

PLEASE help! I don't want my chick to die. I have 10 that I hatched last Friday and I love them already.

I did search this subject but I couldn't find the answers to some questions.

Edited to say!: I forgot to add something! I think this was the same chick (there are 4 that looks so similar). One of the chicks was picking it's leg feathers out last night and shrieking. I don't know what that was about. And I did find a speck of blood on the bedding and I spent like half an hour to figure out who left it but I couldn't. Everyone seemed perfectly fine and healthy. But today this one seems a little more weaker and what I said above.

Also, I use pine shavings for their bedding and I try to keep their bedding at least a little cleaned out... I change it every 2 days. And everyone's poo looks to be normal..

I don't know if that helps but I just thought I'd add it just in case.

best to cover the shavings with ribbed paper towels or regular towels..
they could be eating the bedding..
check the crops for lumps or doughy feeling.

describe droppings..color and consistency.
are they eating?
drinking?
what are you feeding?

I kind of doubt that at 6 days old it is gapeworm..
could be dust from shavings, or respiratory..

as above..what temp are you keeping them?
check the throat..
what is your set up?
what are you feeding?
where are you keeping them?
check for mites..

Really sorry for lack of information. I thought I added all necessary lol.
Ok:

Feeding them: Medicated chick starter. Unknown brand, got it at local feed mill

I don't know the dimensions of the box. Probably like 2 feet by 4 feet? Give or take.

Their poo looks like normal poo but there are some like.... brown gooey spots here and there in the bedding but I figured that's ok because they pee and poo at the same time? It's brown/green and pretty solid besides those random spots.

I couldn't see anything in its throat. It looked normal from what I saw.

The temp in my brooder is about 95 F

The chick is now acting normal and fine. It sneezes every now and then but it eats and drinks and acts like the other little chickies (thank goodness)
So my guess would be a cold.. I was just extremely worried because I looked in there and for like a minute all it would do was yawn and shake its head so I freaked out.

I am keeping them in the basement. Which is heated and air conditioned. I'm pretty sure it's free of drafts.

I don't know what a crop is supposed to feel like..
But it feels like... a bunch of beads in a sac?
Is that good?
I felt the other chicks' crops and they felt different. Like each felt different.

Thanks for the replies by the way
