Is this a cockroach?

Dear Entomologist,

I detest roaches and creepy crawlers. My chicken ate one of these in the grass and I was surprised, proud and also terrified all at the same time. Is this a roach? I live in South Florida. It moved slower than most roaches. Is it ok that she ate it?

It looks like a roach or a beetle of some sort. I would not worry about it. Chickens eat all kinds of bugs, at least mine do.

From the images provided it looks like it's possibly a young Deaths Head cockroach. They're commonly sold as reptile/bug food. Pretty common in FL in the wild as well.

Looks like a roach, as they said, seemed perfectly fine for them to eat
