Hi there,
Only 1 Wyandotte chick hatched under our broody Sussex. Think the awful weather here in UK had something to do with that as my friend only had 1 chick hatch from hers too. I went to the breeder, who breeds Bantams & buys fertile eggs of the larger breeds to hatch. He let me choose 2 chicks, the same age as our hatched chick to put under mum that night, A Saphire (leghorn, Cream Leg Bar x) & what I thought was another Wyandotte. When I looked up Cream Leg Bars they look just like the the new chick. They are nearly 7 weeks old now. I wondered why the feathers were sticking up on her head. I just thought it was the way they were coming in. I will add the photos & hope that someone can confirm that she is a Cream Leg Bar.

What do you think? You can see her funny little crest in the bottom shot. The light grey is the Sapphire, she's a little bit crazy & seems rather bossy, we do have an Amber star, also a leghorn X that was the same when we had her & she is the friendliest now. The Wyandotte is a placid chick & feathering up nicely & 99.9% sure she is a girl, no wattles or significant comb. I read Leg Bars fly better than other chickens, Is that right? Will I have to raise the fences even higher?
