When I purchased these chicks they were labeled as Crested Polish. I can't find any pictures where Crested Polish have feathers on their feet? Is this possibly a cross breed?
It might be a Sultan, there body shape is similar to Polish. Sultans are also crested, they have feathered legs too. Sultans are supposed to have a 5th toe, pick him up and look at his feet. Sultans also have a V comb and white skin.
I might just guess it came from Ideal Poultry. For some reason, they call all their crested birds 'Polish'. Even though they sell Houdans, Sultans, Crevecours, etc. so if the store bought an assortment, they likely just called them what the assort. Was named.
Tsc really messed me up with a similar situation this september. So I bought 4 wyandotte chicks, and two marans. Brought them home, set up a brooder for the marans who were much larger and almost ready to go out, and another for the wyandottes since the marans were eyeing them up to attack. I checked for pasty butt and left them alone to settle in. Never did take a good look at anything else about them until the next morning. By then, one chick was dead and in observing the others for any signs of sickness after disposing of the body, I came across an astonishing discovery: my wyandottes had down tufts and beards. I knew right away what they were from seeing my friends polish chicks. All went well with Lily Potter, Hermione, and Hedwig right up until the day they went into a introduction cage in the center of my coop. Then things went terribly wrong. Long sltry short, Hedwig was killed and they have to live seperately now because my flock in tol agressive the handle polish. The lesson learned: look before you purchase.
