I bought her from a farm store has a Cuckoo Maran as a gift to my mother-in-law.Then she gave us all of her chickens. She doesn't lay dark chocolate eggs.

Cuckoo marans have white/pink legs. Barred rocks have yellow legs. The coloring in both breeds are the same.

Here's my 12 week old girl in front. She's getting lighter and lighter everyday.

Thanks!! I have another hen that has the grey legs. I also have a rooster that has whitish-yellow legs. All three were supposed to be cuckoo marans. I don't think I will buy from that farm store again!

Yeah, that's a Barred Rock hen. See how organized and neat her stripes are? Cuckoo is a much more disorganized coloration, not in neat rows like that. Plus you have the yellow instead of pink/white legs.

The farm store I bought my cuckoo maran said that sometimes the hatcheries accidentally send barred rocks as cuckoo marans. They have the same coloring.

I bet people at the store switch them too. But my rooster looks like a cuckoo maran and has weird colors in him so I think he is part something else.It just stinks because you pay more for them and expect them to be something they are not. I enjoy them though so that is what matters!
