We got this chicken about a month ago. Now "she" is showing signs of aggression, but there is no crowing. Is this cookoo maran a rooster? Thanks so much for replying!

That is a rooster, as I see pointed sickle (tail) and narrow, pointed hackle (neck) feathers.

He's a rooster for sure. He exhibits pointy hackle feathers and sickle feathers in the tail.

That is what I was afraid of! My family is very new to chickens and my daughter from the moment we got her said that the pointed feathers indicated that she was a rooster, but she has never crowed, ever.

    Thanks!

X3 you have a rooster. Some roosters start crowing early like at a month or so, but some won't crow until they are eight or nine months or even older, it just depends on the rooster.

this. He's not pure Marans or he'd be a lot lighter.
