Is This A Good Idea... Update: ~PIC~ PG 4# Post 31#

Lots of people use these for runs. My only caveat would be that they have a secure area to go in at night if you have coons. A raccoon can slip through the panels, and will rip the chicken wire apart--seen it happen before.

I posted on craigslist saying we were looking for one....for a dog we have that can't be trusted...she was a rescue that was never housebroken and will eat anything that moves....and I couldn't believe it someone gave us a huge one for free! We weren't excepting it for free but we are ever so thankful!

I would certainly go to craigslist.

Here's my duck coop made out of a dog kennel with a roof:

Bought on EBay for $75 or $80

The dog house the ducks sleep in, is located outside the kennel:

I just looked and the first one also has a number you can call. Area code 504 I think. You might want to try calling and asking if they still have it. If you dont want to call you can always post an ad yourself. Either in the wanted section asking if anyone has a kennel for sale OR you can also post in the same section they did and post something like..

To the person selling the kennel (title posting)

I tried emailing you through your post, but the email came back to me as not being delivered. I am really interested in buying your kennel, if you could please email me (or call) and let me know something please. (This would be the ad)

Hopefully the person selling the kennel will see this and email you. Plus this also gives other people the chance to see that you are wanting to buy a kennel and email you as well. I hope you are able to get one for cheap. Good luck!

Update: I posted an add on craigslist and so far I have one. Its not as tall as id like so for now I might use it for my trouble making goat LOL. Then later in the week I will be getting 2 that are 12 x 12x 6

for 100 each. I plan on filling half the fence line in the feild my birds are in. Then like planned I will go over the top and sides with chicken wire then add one or two tarp to the roof and cut the tarp so on each side of the kennel matches a side of the tarp. Oh and so seperate walls with be pulled down seperately depending on the weather. Yay. Then I can also add storage to. So I dont have to lug the feed and stuff all the way from my house LOL.

See what a simple little ad can do.

Glad to hear that you got them so cheap! And itsnt that much better than going and buying a brand new one. Youre getting two for the same price as what one new one would have cost you. Post pictures when you can.

OK Ill take some tomorrow. Also out of luck one that's 13 x 7 x 6 that was sold wasn't picked up so I got the giant thing for only$65!!!!!!!!

. It came unassembled so 3 of my friends, my mom, and I set up all but the wiring on the bottom. I'm gonna do that tomorrow then if I can measure and move around the roll of chicken wire. Oh and I'm debating whether or not to make the roof chicken wire or should I use bird netting. If anyone says netting, where can I get it? Later in the week I will hopefully be getting the other 2.

Wow, the prices you guys are finding them for is awesome! In my area they are going for $225 a piece and above. A little too steep for me right now.
