It's time to integrate my 14 week old pullets into my main coop and remove 7 17 week old cockerels from said main coop.
My husband said that I should remove all the cockerels from the main coop and put them into the grow out pen with my younger cockerels and at the same time at the same time, remove add the younger pullets and put them in the main pen with the older ones.
OK, this sounds even confusing to me.
I'm worried about adding 11 older cockerels into a pen with 7 younger ones. My DH said it will be find because the more dominant ones will no longer be dominant when put into a new pen. I'm worried that they will hurt my younger cockerels.
Is this a good idea? I'd be devastated if they started to fight each other. I think my girls would probably be OK because they have a much bigger run and therefore more hiding places for the younger girls.
Is there a better solution? I'd appreciate comments.
