Is this a male or female? UPDATED

I don't think you can be sure yet. The one with the bigger wattles looks like it has the thinner legs, so who knows....

We processed a SLW who we were sure was a roo at around 16 or 17 weeks, thicker legs, redder/bigger comb/wattles than the other two. It was also highly aggressive to the other chickens, so had to go. It was a pullet.

Is it possible to get a couple more side shots of the body? I am leaning toward roo because of how the tail is carried and the feathers in it. The comb and wattles add to my suspicion. Worst case, you can let your purchaser know you suspect it is a roo, but are not 100% certain on that.

hey, everyone - guess what?! this suspiciously roo-looking bird is actually a hen! I found her in the box, laying one of her first eggs yesterday. go figure!!!

WHEW. I thought I was going insane.

When I first looked at it, I said "pullet." Then I was going to attempt to explain why.

Glad it turned out I WASN'T going off the deep end and you're getting a lovely egg a day!

the funny thing is, I wouldn't sell it as a pullet to the guy who came and bought my other one a few weeks ago. he and I both agreed it looked too rooster-ish and he didn't want to add a SLW rooster to his GLW's.

perhaps I should call him now!
