I when I bought this chick I was told it was a Cochin. But now that she has matured I don’t think she is. Can someone tell me what breed she is? Her legs have a few little feathers but not covered.
Thanks!

Ya looks nothing like a cochin. What's a Marian? Marans?

Marans can come in several colors including, Black, Blue, Splash and Cuckoo, but I think this bird is a mix breed.

Where did you buy her? Sometimes that can help with figuring out what kind a chicken is.

Does she lay eggs yet? If she does, then the color of the eggs can help figure out what kind of chicken she is. Marans are supposed to lay dark brown eggs.

I bought her in San Joaquin county California. Her eggs are medium to dark brown. About medium size eggs.

To determine if your chicken is a Marans, look for its specific characteristics, such as the dark, chocolate-brown eggs it lays, or a combination of traits like an iridescent black or copper-colored feathering, feathered legs and feet, and a medium to large body size. You can also check its size and plumage for confirmation, as Marans hens typically weigh around 6.56.5 pounds and roosters about 8.58.5 to 9.59.5 pounds.
