Is this a normal amount or should I expect more?

I have7 red star and 1 white leghorn hens and they are 19-20 weeks old and we got our first eggs last Saturday.

Saturday - 5
Sunday - 0
Monday - 3
Tuesday - 3
Wednesday - 5
Thursday - 4
Friday - 4 (so far - we'll check again in the evening)

So 8 hens and 24 eggs in a week. I know my leghorn isn't laying yet because the egg have all been brown. All of the eggs have been beautiful and perfect except that a couple have had little specks of blood in them... Is that normal? Can you still eat them like that? We didn't we just threw those away. Just curious. Will they lay more as they get a bit older or is this typical?

Thanks!

Eggs with a little spot of blood are fine to eat. It is just a personal preference. As far as how many I am not sure. I believe it takes 25 hours to make an egg and the process stops when the hens sleep. Someone will correct me if i am wrong. I had a pullet lay an egg every day but one since 8/1 and another started a week later but only lay four eggs in a week.

If they are pullets and just starting out, the numbers are good. When they first start out they take a while to get into the swing of full production. Blood spots are OK to eat.
