Bought a huge assortment of hatching eggs and I'm not sure what some of them are.

Can anyone identify these two and are they the same breed or if not, would they make a good pair? I'm thinking of putting them together in a breeder pen. I'm guessing they are some type of Cochin since they both have heavily feathered feet but I don't know for sure. They are both really large birds.

The roo:

His back - note his coloring/pattern is different from hers:

The hen - she wedged herself in between two broody cages:

Hi Cyn - thanks - that's what I was thinking but I know nothing about nothing of specialty breeds and colors.

Silver Laced Cochins, perhaps a mix? In Cochins when you get into Silver Laced and Partridge, the leg feathering is not always great. Roos do not have good lacing on them either.

Thanks - that explains why his coloring doesn't look the same. I got the huge assorted box of eggs last year from SCBirdfarm (I highly recommend them) and I believe they only have pure breds, all in separate pens, but I have no idea what breeds I ended up with other than the Polish which I've put in breeder pens and just posted a thread today selling their eggs. These are the only other ones that seem to be the same breed. They both have feet so heavily feathered it looks like they stepped on and are dragging a dead chicken around on their feet. They are both very docile and sweet and you can pet them. Of course they have the ability to free range with everyone else but they tend to stay in the coop all day so they are either very calm or lazy, not sure which.

I've never seen a silver laced cochin, but that hen is pretty. I guess it would be worth a try breeding them to see what you can get.

Good then I'll put them in a pen together. They pretty much hang out together all day anyway but just like in the pic, it was end of day and all the freeranging roos return to the hen house, and she has to hide to avoid being jumped. So they will be safer in a pen together and I would love to get some babies from them. She is especially pretty (in my opinion).
