Is this a pullet or cockerel and what breed is it?

Regarding the "most-likely cockerel": Here's the side / tail pics I promised to post. Regarding the breed: I did hear back from the teacher whose classroom hatched the eggs - she said it's Rhode Island Red. Actual coloring is darker than some of the photos show.
Again, thanks to everyone who posted...you are all so wonderful and your help is much appreciated.

It is definitly a cockerel, and it has a 80 percent chance of beeing a nhr but it could be crossed.... you have no way of really knowing unless you have real good wing pics... nhr's have atleast a couple black markings on the wings....

Way to light to be a RIR... Kinda weird looking for a New Hampshire, which usually have some black feathers in the tail/primaries - are his legs WHITE? NH legs should be yellow, same with RIR.
