[/IMG][/IMG]have this little chick that is about 6 weeks old. She is supposed to be a black sexlink. But she is much smaller than her coop mates and has been slow to feather out. Today when I let her out she was jumping on top of a few of the other pullets. Thought this was interesting since she is the smallest. Could she be a different breed and a rooster or just a dominant girl? Your thoughts are appreciated.

While it is always best to determine breed from a full profile shot (rather than being held), what I am seeing is indicating a Black Sexlink...you can see the red bleed through on the chest. The comb is in keeping with a commercial line pullet bred to mature more quickly.

Sexlinks are not large birds, more medium size, so without knowing what the other breeds are, it is likely she simply is smaller....or just the "runt."

Snotty behavior is normal in both sexes as the chicks mature, while the roosters do tend to carry it a bit further and longer.

For certainty, though, I would need to see a full profile shot.
