Is this a quail??

For The Record,

Sexing Is Visual By The Spurs... With The Exception Of Quail, All True Gamebirds (partridge, Grouse, Pheasants, Etc) Have Spurs, Even Hens, But It Is Spur Size That Allows Sex To Be Identified On Chukar. Of Course It Will Be Difficult To Guage If You Dont Have At Least 1 Of Each To Do Comparison With... The Jist Of It Is That Hens Have More Dainty And Lady-like Spurs

Oh Eyah And If They Have French Manicure Thats A Dead Give Away!!!

WET CLIMATE SHOULD NOT EFFECT THEM, NOR SHOULD IT EFFECT RING NECKS. ALMOST ALL PHEASANT SPECES ARE VERY VERY COLD AND WET HARDY SPECES. IN FACT SOME REQUIRE IT TO BE HEALTHY/ HAPPY (HIMILAYAN MONAL PHEASNTS)

For Education Purposes Many Pheasant/ Chukar/ True Gamebird Speces Questions Can Be Answered On Www.gbwf.org As Well As Photos---be Warned People. There Are Some Seriously Gorgeous Birds In The Gamebird World, Even Moreso Than The Quail Speces You May Be Accustomed To So Look At Your Own Risk (because All Those Pretty Pheasants Cost Small Fortunes!- Believe Me I Know)

I hatched out 9 of these funny quail and I am having a hard time believing my " rossterbator " hatched 9 hens but I cannot find any spurs yet they are about 4-5 months old has anybody ever feather sexed them or shank sexed them??

In My Experience They Dont Spur Sex Well Til About 10-12 Mos Old... Takes A Lil While For The Boys Spurs To Really Take Off. I Have Not Feather Sexed, But Am Always Ready To Beer Sex

I bought some GZF quail eggs but only one hatched - at the same time as my slatebelt bobwhites. So far

I have raised him with the bobs I am hoping they do ok until he is big enough for dinner. I only have the one, but also have a single pheasant that hatched, guess they will go to camp together.
