I see hackle looking feathers that are a darker orange then the rest if its body.

Could we get a full body pic to make sure?

would you please post a photo of bird facing front, with crest held back? I'd like to see full extent of comb. Beautiful silkie by the way.

I am tempted to say a cockerel, and I have been in this situation before as well. With the walnut comb, which is most common in silkies, it makes sexing increasingly difficult.

The darkening hackle feathers are an indicator of a roo, but for me, have proven unreliable. I had a hen look exactly the same--somewhat large comb and wattles, with king of golden hackles--she is a white bearded silkie.

Nice buff silkie! I have white, blue, and black.

With that much red in the comb and wattles, at 3 months, especially for a Silkie...rooster.
