He is a production red. he starting crowing the other day, so it’s a rooster for sure. Does anyone know if I have to give him away? My husband keeps saying I have to.

Why would he say you have to give him away? Any reasoning? Some people give their roosters away because town noise ordinance, or because don’t want to feed a bird that won’t give eggs, or aggression, or just because neighbors can’t stand the crowing. Aside that, it’s good to have a rooster for flock protection, for breeding purpose, or just because roosters are beautiful :)
 
My RIR roo is pretty aggressive. I don’t go to the coop without a stick. Going to cull him as soon as I get a new rooster big enough to protect the flock.
 
He’s pretty ok. Sometimes he’s a little aggressive but not towards me. I also used to talk to them as chicks so if I talk to him I can even hold him for a little.
