Is this a rooster?

Hi guys! I am excited to be a new chicken owner. I have this black Australorp. Reading online I think this could possibly be a rooster. What do you guys think? It is around 12 wks I think.

I think it looks like a rooster, because of its saddle feathers are coming in, and his hackle feathers the feathers around his neck are changing colors. They look more green very shining.

If 12 weeks old, then yes, that is a cockerel.

Agreed, its a cockerel, but not because of the green sheen at all. Black feathers will always sheen no matter the gender or species.
