That is a Cornish cross. Wait till it’s older to know if it’s a hen or rooster and with the right care you can actually keep a Cornish X. My last Cornish X hen had a giant comb very young and was a hen and she lived over 2 years.

The trick to giving “proper care” to a Cornish Cross is restricting its food. This one’s young enough that you can feed 3 times a day for this week and then take it down to twice a day for 20 minutes in the morning and 20 minutes at dinner time.

For the 3x for baby, try:

AM - 20 min
noon - 5 min
PM - 20 min

You may need to keep it in your yard away from the other chickens that are being fed ad lib. But it’s a pet, yes?

The sex doesn’t really matter with Cornish Cross. They are usually processed way before the first egg or crow. They are friendly and if it grows old enough to be a rooster will probably still be friendly.

How did your Cornish Cross get to be two years old? Do you only feed morning and night? Is there a way you were able to keep the Cornish Cross away from the feeder or the place where you feed? Yes - running with the layers will definitely help it!

I don’t use an automatic feeder. I give them quarter a bucket of food in the morning and about half a bucket in the evening. Sometimes half a bucket a day depending on how much I’ve been feeding them.

Way to Go!! Under those circumstances, and with enough other chickens that come running and competing for the food, yes I see how you kept that Cornish Cross to such a ripe old age!

Just the running around and trying to get feed during a short time with every-chicken around being much more agile would probably do the trick!
