Is this a Rooster?

I think “she” may be a rooster. Seemed to be a late bloomer and the comb and wattles came out of no where and the tail feathers have changed. Need confirmation, as she hasn’t been vocal yet, before we have to rehome. Breed is Black Australorp/Jersey Giant mix. Thanks!

Cockerel, and to be honest- the lineage you were told is likely wrong based on genetics!

He has fibro/mulberry skin. Even though giants have black legs they have yellow foot bottoms and bright red combs/wattles, and Australorps have black legs with white foot bottoms and bright red combs/wattles.

Your cockerel has a single comb and black/mulberry skin- so he likely has Ayam Cemani or an outside chance of Svart Hona in his background.

The good news is that when he's used on a huge variety of hens- the chicks will be super cool looking. The Mosaic type chickens start with Ayam Cemani in their lineage and are outcrossed- and are just beautiful.
