I feel stupid asking this question, but is there a simple way to tell if I have a rooster? I have four red phoenix mixes that I was given as a gift. They are about a year old and I consistently get 3 eggs a day. One of them has a larger comb than the others. I see no other signs, just hopeful since they are so beautiful. I don't really have a place to seperate them and wait for eggs.

Have any images of the bird in question? if the only difference is the comb, you surely have 4 hens. Roosters look very different, both in color and in feathering.

Roosters will have a longer, curved tail, usually bolder colors, in mixes usually more patchy. The feathers around the neck and behind the tail will be pointy and longer than on a hen. Comb and wattles will be larger.

Just wish full thinking. It is the one in the front left and top pic. The other day I found 4 eggs from the four of them so no such luck. They give really nice eggs and have gone broody a lot so I was just hopeful.
