Maybe I should contact swheat because I have NO IDEA what I can do with her in regards to breeding. I'm considering selling her because I just don't need another Cochin project...I'm already working on blue barred and mille fleur.
SWHEAT breeds these and sells eggs on here as well. He is on the cochin thread a lot and I'm sure he could give you some great tips!
I'm running back and forth trying to get my 5 year old settled down for the night....I'll try to hunt down swheat later on tonight. If anyone see's him, please direct him my way or to this thread.
Hey Michelle,
Yes, she is a beautiful silkie cochin. I silkied can happen in just about any breed I guess, or at least that is from my understanding from all the research I did when my barred girl hatched. My cochins do not have any silkie blood either. The silkied gene is recessive so all you have to do is breed to a another cochin, and then breed the offspring back together and\\or breed one of her sons back to her and you will approx. get 50% silkied chicks. She is very beautiful !!!
What I did is bred her to my best black roo and then took one of her best sons back to her and went from there.
ETA= you would get approx. 25% silkied cochins from the siblings mated together.
Here is a pic showing a black & barred silkied cochin
I have a egg auction running on Ebay for Silkied Cochins ending tomorrow night (Friday) if anyone is interested.

Thanks so much swheat! And double thank you for the breeding info. Maybe I should just keep her in my barred/blue barred pen and see what happens. I'm gonna go take a look at your auction! LOLOL Getting some of your hatching eggs would definitely change my mind about selling her.
