It’s not Cuckoo Marans because they have white legs and feet and yours has yellow. I think it’s a barred Cochin. It is also a male based on coloring. It’s double barred that’s why it is so light colored.

How old is he? If he is 12-14 weeks or younger he may not have reached sexual maturity which would explain not crowing or having male feathers yet.

I have a 14 week old Blue laced Wyandotte who I know is male that hasn’t started crowing yet so it can take awhile.

Its 3 months about and no crowing. Do you know how loud the crowing is? I don’t live in the country. I am going to be heart broken to lose him. Is there anyway to control that? Also I have a 7 months old Rhode Island Red hen with just as big crown and waddle that everyone swore was a rooster and now my best egg layer. Any chance with this barred Cochin???

If he is 12 weeks he will be just starting to grow his male feathers. He is a male. It’s based on coloring. Pullets are much darker. Here is a picture of a rooster and hen so you can see the difference.

Plus his comb and waddles are too red for a pullet at 12 weeks.

Ok guys so is there any way to hope for not much crowing or lessen it. This chicken is my pet. Love it and want to keep it if possible. Have 4 Rhode Island Red hens and a auraucana White I don’t know yet lol
