Haha yep it's a real breed. It was selected and bred for, same as any other breed of chicken, dog, cow etc.
behavorial traits can be selected for. domestic canaries are a good example of selection for vocal traits. Other chicken vocal selection examples would be long crowing breeds- tomaru, denzili, etc.
There are several very strange behavioral traits selected for in some pigeon breeds. there is one breed selected for the males flying in rings just a few feet above a female(ringbeaters), those bred for rolling down in the sky or on the ground(parlor rollers). Some were bred to simply fly in circles really high above nonstop for as long as possible- 12 hours or so. but some of the most amazing are some spanish breeds called 'thief pouters'- the goal are to have males so good at making a female fall in love with him and follow him home.. they use those in competitions- releasing groups of males from different lofts and a 'target female' at a location- the bird that manages to convince that specific female to come home with him is the 'winner'. Kind of like homing pigeon races with a twist.
Same as canaries and birds that sing for a long time- ketawas are able to crow like that because they have a different breathing system from mammals. Mammals have a tidal breathing system- simply take in then expel air. Birds have a circular type- air comes in one way, basically does a loop around the body before exiting so they are able to vocalize for a longer time because the air continues to come into the body while the bird sings without a total pause to take in a new breath.
