I recently saw another thread where someone mentioned their hen was a splash and looked similar to this coloring. Is that what you would call this mottled coloring? Btw I am referring to the whitish hen with the darker gray spots

You got the pretty recessive genes.. most people hope for a blue or splash and you got only those two, lucky!Well that's a surprise. These are supposed to be blue Andalusians. They said it's likely I'd get 50% blue and 50% white. Out of 6 hens, I got 2 blue and 4 splash. Didn't even know that was an option.
Those genes aren’t recessive. You got the pretty recessive genes.. most people hope for a blue or splash and you got only those two, lucky!
Youre right.. diluted.... so so sorryThose genes aren’t recessive.
I got them from McMurray Hatchery so surely they understand genetics.... I just checked their site again to make sure I didn't misunderstood. Sure enough, they talk about the blue color but then say chicks may also be black, white, or black/white combo. Nothing about splash unless that is what black/white combo is inferring?Yep. Splash. Some people who don't know anything much about genetics think of it as white. Might just be advertising to a lower knowledge point than yours.
Blue Black Splash is a really common gene. And you get blues blacks and splash from it. White's a totally other color.... And more relevantly... Is white. XD
The “white” and “black-white” is actually splash.I
