So...we have counted many times, and always come up one chick too many. This one is smaller but faster than the others. The wings have a different tip shape than any chick I've seen before. We have wild turkeys in our yard often. We wonder if a mama turkey was nearby with her babies and one managed to get into the run but not back out again. Thoughts?

This is definitely without any doubt a chicken chick. I have personally seen many chicks that look like that.
It is not the proper shape for a turkey poult and does not have a snood which all turkey poults have.

It is the appendage just above the beak that as far as I know only turkeys have. I am not aware of any other type of poultry that has a snood. You can see the snood on this poult picture from Porter's Rare Heritage Turkeys. In adult toms it gets very red, expands and hangs far down past the end of the beak.

Definitely a chick, not a poult.
