I went to treat pasty but in the chicks and this one looks abnormal. It doesn’t look to bad so I’m wondering if I caught it early. They are one week old.

Well, I can't see anything really abnormal in the blurry picture. :D Hopefully it will be OK. Is someone checking them for pasty butt every day? Sometimes chicks get constipated and they strain to poop and it can cause them to prolapse. Some coconut oil (freeze it and break it up into tiny pieces and feed it to the chick) can help with constipation. Having correct brooder temps, with plenty of room to move in and out of the heat source will help prevent pasty butt also.

I do it on Tuesday and Thursday. The students are always holding them and stuff so they are probably really stressed. There are only six left and family’s are coming to take them tomorrow I just didn’t want to give a first timer a chick with a prolapse.
