Woke up to two of my favorite girls dead this morning. The first chicken we lost about 2 or 3 weeks ago, a small frizzle and it was our fault because we usually left the bottom to our coops open and just closed the top because we have never had predators before. We also have a huge wood privacy fence but somehow whatever got my Maybelline carried her off into the woods outside our yard and feathers were the only trace. Then about 3 days ago I lost my old girl lily after my dogs had almost tore her apart, she survived, but then I had her isolated to heal. We had this area under a canopy that was surrounded by green plastic small squared fencing and we had a small wooden coop in there. The door on the front was a little broken and if you pushed it, it went inward slightly so I’m not sure what could have gotten her but there was no feather trace just a few in the bottom coop area and one single drop of blood on the outside. So we leveled up our protection making sure the turkeys are secure, everyone, but even locking every lock on our predator proof cages this morning I woke up to my dog bringing me one of my chickens. Something dug and crawled under the coops and killed two of them inside probably at around 4 this morning, my puppy was nowhere to be found and I believe she chased it off at that time. So again at 7 this morning is when she brought me one of them and scratching at the door. I had 5 other chickens in that coop they are okay but I need to know what this is and google won’t give me an answer, it says weasel. This was the only clear track I could find and I am in Florida if that helps. We are going to get the electric fence up tonight. I appreciate any responses.
